From Ioannina to the World: How TechFuse 2026 Captured the Rise of Greece’s Most Exciting Startup Scene

TechFuse 2026, now in its third edition, filled the Dimitris Hatzis Cultural Center with founders, engineers, and dreamers who are proving that world-class innovation doesn’t require a Silicon Valley zip code.
Our co-founder Georgios Chalkidis took the stage for the panel “Evolving Startup Scene in Ioannina”, moderated by Maria Sarantopoulou from the Hellenic Development Bank. Alongside Stergios Anastasiadis, Christos Georgiadis, and Charalampos Tzanidis, the conversation was blunt, honest, and energizing: the Ioannina startup scene is no longer a future concept. It is happening right now.
What We Talked About on Stage
The panel wasn’t just a feel-good moment. It was a real conversation about what it means to build from a city that most VCs still can’t find on a map.
